Obsessed

I’ve decided that it was time that I learn to play chess.  I’ve known the rules for years, but I’ve never really been successful.  Lately, I’ve been reading a few books on the subject as well as studying some games, and I’m starting to become more proficient. 

I think chess is warping my mind, though.  Lately, I’ve been looking out at my classroom, and seeing the desks as a chess grid and my students as pieces.  In the midst of my lecture, my mind will wander, and I’ll ask myself what I would do if I were in the chess situation that presents itself in front of me. (It might be an interesting study to try to understand how my brain classifies students–who are pawns, power pieces, etc.)  It’s no wonder that Bobby Fischer has seemingly lost control of his brilliance.  This rudimentary game can turn one’s mind on its head.

 Cave Man Rock and Roll

I just wanted to post this photo as a way of letting you know that I now have a photo section via Flikr. Click on “Photos” at the top of the blog to access my page. 

This photo was taken when Dan and Yukiko came to my house to visit on their “furlow” (sp?). Great times were had by all, and Dan and I even played one of our old tunes in church on Sunday (”Testimony”, for those of you who know our stuff). I’ll try to find a recording of it to post online.

The times, they are a changin’.

I’ve installed the latest version of WP, and this unfortunately cost me the old Killiansight design.  I figure it was time for a change anyway; I’m just not sure what I should change to.  Any suggestions for a new look for my blog?

By the way, the Pecos Bill thing is going very well, but I am hesitant to put any more of it online.  Call me paranoid, but I am afraid of getting my work stolen.
